Middle School at WIDE
Middle school at WIDE is a time of powerful transformation academically, socially, and emotionally. Students engage in a blend of traditional academics and interdisciplinary, project-based learning that encourages them to ask real questions about the world and their place in it.
Core subjects such as math, science, literature, and history are explored through meaningful projects that make learning relevant and connected. Along the way, students develop essential skills in collaboration, critical thinking, and creative expression, while also learning to navigate relationships, resolve conflicts peacefully, and grow into confident, compassionate individuals.
Middle School at WIDE:
Identity, Voice, and Global Connection
Our math and science programs are designed to meet students where they are while providing opportunities to advance when they’re ready. Striving students may begin taking high school-level math and science courses in middle school, giving them a strong foundation for future learning.
Small class sizes ensure that every student is seen and supported, allowing for personalized guidance.
Science at WIDE is hands-on and immersive our outdoor classroom, garden, and animal science program bring learning to life.
Whether caring for chickens and goats, conducting experiments, or cooking as part of a culinary science unit, students explore scientific concepts through real-world, engaging experiences.

Our global focus deepens in these years. Students move from written connections to real-world encounters—meeting peers from around the globe, preparing for international travel, and engaging in meaningful dialogue. Through pen pal partnerships with students in France, Germany, Andorra, and Oman, and project-based collaborations over Zoom, students expand their understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives. Our French exchange program transforms these written relationships into immersive experiences, as students host French peers in Texas and later travel to Paris to attend classes at our partner school.
Participation in the annual UNESCO Youth Symposium in Greece allows middle and high schoolers to explore global issues like sustainability, human rights, and cultural identity alongside students from around the world. These are not abstract lessons—they are lived experiences that help students see themselves as global citizens, ready to think critically, lead with empathy, and take responsibility for the world they’re part of.
Our Middle School program includes:
Deep, integrated learning across math, science, humanities, and the arts
Student-led projects, debates, and real-world problem solving
Regular conflict resolution practices and emotional check-ins
Interest-based internships and creative studio time
Preparation for global travel and leadership opportunities
Participation in international events like the UNESCO Youth Symposium
